Tarangire National Park
Tarangire
Tarangire National Park, just a short drive from Arusha, offers exceptional game viewing year-round. During the wet season, its swamps and waterholes attract Cape buffalo and elephants, while the dry season sees animals gathering around the Tarangire River in search of water. Known as Tanzania’s largest elephant haven, the park provides unparalleled opportunities to see elephants, from playful calves to massive bulls. The iconic baobab trees, often called the "Tree of Life," add to the park's distinctive landscape.
Tarangire is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 550 species, including ostriches, Kori bustards, and colorful weavers. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot fringed-eared oryx, greater kudu, and a variety of predators, including lions and leopards. The park offers a thrilling safari experience, especially when predators hunt near the river as herbivores flock to the water during the dry season.
