Itinerary
Tembo Safari 6 days
DAY 1 - Arusha - Tarangire National park
Meet your safari driver guide in the lobby after breakfast, and then depart for Tarangire National Park through Arusha town, where you can exchange currency or make any last-minute purchases. Tarangire is Tanzania’s fifth-largest National Park and is famous for its stunning scenery and the largest population of elephants that can’t be found anywhere else on the planet.
The park’s highlights include the Tarangire River and the impressive baobab trees that tower over some of the smaller animal species underneath. The Tarangire-Lake Manyara ecosystem facilitates an annual migration cycle of over 3000 elephants, wildebeests, and zebras. Aside from the elephant population, you might also have the chance to see giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, warthogs, and three rare species: the Lesser and Greater Kudu, Oryx, and the Ash staling. As the late afternoon approaches, drive back to the Campsite for dinner and an overnight stay, either before or during sunset.
Meals Provided: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 2 - 3 Tarangire National Park to Serengeti National Park
There’s a reason the creators of “The Lion King” drew inspiration from the Serengeti, and today you’ll discover why. Known for its large lion population, this park offers an excellent chance to see a lion pride in their natural habitat, surrounded by abundant gazelles, zebras, and buffalo. If you visit during the right season, you might witness the birth of wildebeest calves as they prepare for their annual migration to Kenya at the end of May. Enjoy lunch served in the park, and after a full day of game drives, your campsite will be waiting for you to relax and unwind
Meals Provided: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4 - Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater
Meals Provided: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5 - Full game drive in Ngorongoro Crater
After a hearty breakfast, we make our way to the gates of Ngorongoro Crater, where we descend into the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera. An abundance of wildlife graces this infamous area, known worldwide for its stunning landscape. Enjoy spotting a multitude of different species, from elephants, hippos, and giraffes to the majestic Crater Lions and ravenous hyenas. Enjoy a waterfront stop for lunch, enjoying the spectacular views and a bite to eat before you head out for your afternoon game drive. After ascending to the crater rim, we will head back to the camp or Lodge for the evening
Meals Provided: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6 - Manyara national park
At around midnight, you will be awoken with some hot tea and biscuits to get ready for today’s ascent. You will climb in a north-westerly direction through heavy scree toward Stella Point, arriving there in about 5 to 7 hours. At Stella Point (5,730m), you may rest if necessary before taking on another 1 to 2 hour stretch along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak – the highlight of your trip. A breathtaking view awaits you as you stand on the highest mountain in Africa. After taking as many pictures as your camera will allow, you will leave behind the glistening glaciers and snowy peaks and make your way back down to Barafu Camp. Here, you will have time to catch your breath before heading further down to Mweka Camp, an approximate 3-hour walk. A scrumptious dinner and a peaceful night’s sleep await you.
