Trip overview

The Marangu Route, also known as the Tourist or Coca-Cola Route, is the most popular, least difficult, and shortest path to Uhuru Peak on Mount Kilimanjaro. Around 70% of climbers choose this route for its relatively gentle gradients.

Although considered the easiest, the final stretch to the summit remains challenging, and many climbers struggle due to insufficient preparation. Proper organization, acclimatization, and safety measures are essential.

While the route can be completed in five days, an extra day at Horombo Hut—Kilimanjaro’s only campsite with beds and mattresses—is recommended to improve your chances of reaching the summit successfully.

Tour Highlights

  • Hut accommodation instead of camping
  • Gentler and easier path compared to many other routes
  • Panoramic views from the Saddle, a striking high-altitude desert
